Scout Camp - Tomahawk 2012

Once upon a  Sunday night, about 8:30 p.m., the Scout Master (Bryce) wasn't able to get the scout flag which they NEEDED for the organized camp they were going to at 7:a.m.the next day- Monday Morning. The Scout Master begged and pleaded with his 'non sewing wife'-, to help him MAKE a troop flag. If it would have been Saturday, this Scout Master's 'non sewing wife' certainly would have purchased enough Badge Magic to stick all those numbers and arrow on. (A day late and a dollar short). Sunday night she dug out and dusted off the sewing machine. After lots of  unpicking, and lots of "you've got to be kidding me", and as much effort as she could muster,  here's the troop flag designed by the Scout Master.   (Fortunately the troop name "Golden Flaming Arrows" was able to be ironed on! )  "I know it's getting late" said the Scout Master..."however we need to finish the troop shirts also".  We need one for every boy and every leader."  The Scout Master's 'non-sewing wife' finally found just the right iron on tools, to finish those troop shirts. "We're in luck" said the Scout Master's 'non-sewing wife' "It's a Miracle! " They worked together late into the night, to get those logos ironed on. The Scout Master, and his 'non-sewing wife' were very tired, but very happy with all their efforts. They were also very happy finally able to get some sleep that night.   And the flag flew over the camp all week long. The Scout Master, his 'non-sewing wife, and the scout troop, and the camp leaders lived happily ever after.        I love happy endings!  

We did a GREAT job if I do say so myself! 

They even won a ribbon for the flag!

Tyler and Taylor attended a pioneering merit badge class, and they made a swing.



Tyler also attended a class where they made some fun baskets. He earned several more merit badges while at this camp.  Good Job Tyler!

June 24, 2012 We can't believe that Tyler is now ordained to be a Teacher. 14 years certainly has gone quickly.

Family Reunion 2012

This year it was my family's turn to plan our Johnson family reunion. We decided since the Olympics were going to be starting this summer...we thought we'd have the USA TEAM JOHNSON FAMILY OLYMPICS.

We had the Honorable Olympic Judges begin the opening ceremonies.  They explained about the first summer games, and the games that are currently involved.  We then took the Olympian pledge about upholding the spirit of the Olympics, playing fair, and being a good sport.  The torch was then carried by all the members on the USA TEAM JOHNSON that were present.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Our 1st event was "cross country skiing" where we had 2 teams at a time all working together.  This was tough to keep all 6 team members on the skiis, and to manuver down  the course. This was certainly a teamwork game.

We must have been having so much fun, that I forgot to take pictures of the javelin throw, archery and basketball events. 

The Hurdles were a huge hit!  Blake didn't think the hurdles were high enough, so he was jumping over the chairs in the middle, and was clearing them with no problem.

A HUGE GOLD MEDALS GO TO OUR FAMILY FOR THEIR TEAMWORK WITH HELPING TYLER START HIS EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT.  HE IS MAKING 100 100-BEAD ABACUS KITS FOR OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT.  THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S HELP!

Our 2nd Week of Summer Vacation

We headed to Manti for our traditional camping trip. We didn't start the trip out very well...with a flat tire on the trailer. Fortunately we were able to get it fixed and proceed on our way. We are glad that Nathan could come with us on yes - another "adventure." We enjoyed a great dinner! Dutch oven potatoes and BBQ Chicken! Yum!

When we ride with Bryce, there is no such thing as a gentle ride...This one says it's MOST DIFFICULT!  Boy was that correct!

Thank goodness for a microwave, since we couldn't have campfire s'mores.  They weren't the same, but it worked.  We had a fun time!

Our 1st Week of Summer Vacation

We started our summer vacation with our very good friends but more like "cousins" Andrew and Matt from California. Matt was happy to be on the motorcycle.

When he wasn't on the motorcycle, they were playing with the remote control motorcycles.

We went to the International Peace Gardens on Sunday. We found the Matterhorn, the USA Garden, Germany and many others.

Several nights the boys were here, we enjoyed a competitive game of Lasso Golf.

BOONDOCKS was a BLAST! Especially when Matt figured out he could drive the go cart all by himself!

The Trampoline Park was GREAT! The boys jumped their hearts out, and were exhausted after so much fun.

The week went TOO FAST! It was sad to see the boys need to go back home. We had a great time with them! Thanks Cliff & Gina for letting your boys come visit for the week!
